Officially opening the phone lines and strapping on the tool belts for business in December 2015, the Royal Oak, Michigan-based Dimensions Construction Services really was a vision come to life that essentially “fell into our lap” at the perfect time, said owner Patti, speaking enthusiastically about the joint effort also involving her husband Vince.
Like any great romance, there’s a “meet cute” tale to share behind the founding of the business. A world travel enthusiast, Livonia, Michigan native Patti had established a well-rounded career through a resume that included the likes of radio broadcasting for a ministry, management of a non-profit enterprise and most recently service at a water damage restoration company.
Faced with a fickle Mother Nature fully capable of unexpectedly unleashing home-damaging floods, Patti’s employer brought on board a certain dashing, experienced Inkster, Michigan-born carpenter and licensed residential builder named Vince to lend his extensive construction experience. Romance bloomed. The duo quickly realized their shared passion for the construction industry and common desire to offer a higher level of skill and customer service severely lacking – from their own experiences – in the home construction industry. A business plan was born, not to mention plans for a wedding.
“Our plans just took off, and in only a matter of weeks we had managed to build a wide and varied client base, ranging from single home owners to larger corporate clients,” said Patti. “Even more encouraging, right out of the gate we were getting customers not through advertising, but by word-of-mouth recommendations thanks to Vince’s past work. His customers were satisfied, and they were happy to spread the word about Dimensions Construction Services.
“Basically we have an extensive knowledge in customer service, and that’s the first building block for our business. There are many skilled construction workers, but we add something else that’s crucial to satisfying our clients: We listen. It’s that simple. And if a customer’s not satisfied, we’ll work to make it right. Our approach is proven, because our customers keep coming back and making referrals. It’s like when you find a good and trustworthy mechanic, you stay with them.”

There’s never a cost to have us simply come out and talk,” said Patti. “We just want our customers to be happy, regardless of the size of the job. That’s the only fair way to do business.”
